CEC Uniform Code: What You Need to Know
Climbing Canada (CEC) has approved and recently announced a new Event Uniform Code, effective September 1, 2026, and it applies to all CEC-sanctioned events: CEC National Championships (Boulder, Lead, Speed), Youth National Championships (all disciplines), and Youth Regional Championships (Boulder). Full policy here: CEC Event Uniform Code
Under the code, every athlete's Competition Top must clearly display:
The OCF logo or an official provincial identifier
A representation of the Ontario flag
"Ontario" or "ON" in a clearly visible, contrasting colour
Uniforms must be consistent in design and branding across all athletes representing Ontario. Athletes who don't comply will be issued a Yellow Card and required to modify their top before they're allowed to compete - so being outfitted correctly matters.
To meet this standard, the OCF has been working in partnership with BE Athletics (the Canadian National Team supplier) to produce a new compliant Team Ontario uniform at a reasonable price. A few different items will be available (including a jacket and warm up pants) but going forward, all competitors will be required to wear:
An official Ontario provincial top (singlet or shirt), and
Black or green shorts or pants of their choice
For this season only, the OCF has applied for and received an exemption allowing athletes to continue wearing the previous season's black-and-green uniform (Jakroo) alongside the new design while the transition is underway. These would also need to be worn in combination with black or green shorts or pants.
