Here is everything you need to know about our second Boulder Local of the season. This event is for our younger Youth climbers. There is some new information so please read this announcement carefully.


  • Saturday, December 18, 2021
  • Climber’s Rock, 5155 Harvester Rd #1, Burlington


  • Youth E, D, and C age athletes (please see our website for further details on age categories).
  • Youth E should register as Recreational Members.
  • Youth D/C may register as either Recreational or Competitive Members.


  • The competition will be a judged scramble format. 
  • There will be approximately 25 problems for all competitors to choose from. Each competitor may attempt whichever problems they want, in any order they want. Each competitor will have maximum 8 attempts on any problem, with each fall reducing the value of that problem a small amount. Each competitor will be allowed to make only one attempt at a time, unless no other competitors are waiting in that area. Competitors will be ranked based on their 5 highest value Tops. 
  • Competitive Youth C athletes may advance to the Final Round on Saturday afternoon.
  • Quota to Finals for Youth C is based on the size of each category, with between 6 and 12 competitors advancing to finals.
  • The Final Round will be Iso/Onsight format with 4 problems, 5 on / 5 off.


  • Everyone entering the gym must complete a facility waiver with Climber’s Rock.
    • To enter the climbing area, all competitors and spectators must have a current facility waiver on file. Visitors under the age of 18 must have their waiver completed and signed by their own parent or court-appointed legal guardian. 
    • Climber’s Rock has a new gym management system and requires new facility waivers for every visitor. If you have not been to Climber’s Rock this year, please visit for step by step instructions on how to submit a waiver for your child. 
  • Please complete your waiver(s) before the competition to help make check-in more efficient.


  • Everyone 12 years and older entering the gym must be fully vaccinated, and will need to show full vaccination receipts (QR codes alone will not be accepted) and proper identification that matches the vaccination receipt.
  • Masks must be worn by everyone at all times. 
  • The OCF’s COVID-19 Protocol for the 2021/2022 season can be found here.


  • Spectators will be limited due to Public Health guidelines. 
  • Up to 2 spectators per athlete will be allowed during each of the morning sessions, which will be held in the main gym area.
  • Only 1 spectator per athlete will be allowed for Finals, which will be held in the Boulder Lab.



  • There is some free parking in the plaza where Climber’s Rock is located. Please abide by the posted parking signs and instructions, or you could be walking home.

  • The registration deadline for everyone is Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 5:00 PM.
  • There are two distinct sessions on Saturday morning, each with the same amount of climbing time. Each competitor may register for only one session, and is expected to leave the gym after their session ends. 
  • Each session will be capped at 80 competitors to comply with COVID related facility capacity limits.
  • Registration instructions:
    1. Purchase Membership – select one of:
      • Competitive Membership (Youth D/C only) – eligible for Series Points, OCF voting member rights, and to qualify for OCF Provincial Championships; Youth C are also eligible to qualify for Final Round at Locals and OCF team at CEC events
      • Recreational Membership – for Youth E and Youth D/C who want access to recreational competitions only (without extra benefits listed above for Competitive Members)
