We have our very first OCF Youth and Open Local Bouldering Competition for the 2018-2019 Season coming up on Saturday October 20, 2018 and Sunday October 21, 2018 at the HUB Climbing, 165 McIntosh Dr, Markham, Ontario L3R 0N6 and we need your help!
This will be a World Cup Qualifier Style format and we will need everyone to help out if at all possible–especially our experienced judges! As last year, some changes had to be made due to the increasing number of competitors at all of the local comps last year. A, Junior and Open will still have their Qualifiers on Saturday, the B category will compete Sunday and will be followed by the A, Junior and Open Finals. The C category has been added to the same competition as D+E and their competition is on a separate weekend entirely to accommodate the large number of athletes.
The competition will be ISO format with 5 problems, 5 on 5 off, top 8 A, Jr and Open athletes advance to Finals (4 problems, 4 min. each) – there will be no finals for youth B.
We will need to know your availability and which day that you are available to help as soon as possible– by age category is the best way to determine your availability if you are unable to do the entire day. We really need your help so please consider volunteering!
We need volunteers for ISO monitoring, registration, runners and other non-judging positions –but our need is greatest for *judging !!
*In order to judge you have had to attend an OCF Judging Clinic.
Please look at the provisional schedule below for each day of competition and let me know which categories that you are able to volunteer for and on which day- Saturday Oct 20/18 or Sunday Oct 21/18. Please keep in mind that the schedule is approximate and times will change but if you can let me know that you can judge or volunteer for e.g. — B Category on Sunday, or A and Junior categories on Saturday or alternately that you want to watch the Junior category climb but are able to help with the rest of the categories on Saturday that would be really helpful. We are MORE than happy to accommodate you. (the more information you provide us about your availability the better!)
FYI –Iso will be closing 30 minutes prior to the first climber starting in that category if that helps you to determine which categories you can help out with. For e.g. Iso will close for A category at 8.30am on Saturday according to the provisional schedule below as A will begin to climb at 9 a.m..
The final schedule and running order will come out on Wednesday October 17, 2018.
***The schedule below is to give those of you that are new an idea of what the timing of the competition might look like, so you can estimate your availability. Changes to the schedule will be made once registration closes Tuesday night and we know final numbers.***
