The OCF held one extended Board Meeting in September 2013.
(1) The first portion of the meeting was held on September 11, in Oakville, ON.
The meeting was called as a emergency session, so that the Board could promptly address a recent decision made by the Alpine Club of Canada to dissolve the CEC and sever the OCF’s formal involvement in the National Federation.
Board members Jeff Whattam, John Gross, Liz Moffett, Lorraine Winger, Sheila Marks, Scott Murray Stephen Marks and Tim Vince attended the meeting in person. Jody Miall attended by video Skype.
The entire Board confirmed that they had reviewed a detailed report about the national restructuring process and the OCF’s history of involvement with the ACC.
The entire Board confirmed that they remain strongly committed to supporting the restructuring of the National Federation into an elected and accountable body that has the potential to become a recognized National Sport Organization.
However, the Board confirmed that they also remain strongly committed to managing the conflict with the ACC in a manner that does not adversely effect the Ontario competitive climbing community.
After a lengthy discussion the Board agreed to suspend the meeting to allow further research be done on various restructuring issues, as well as the OCF’s corporate relationship with the ACC.
