The OCF Board met on Sunday May 4, 2014 at 6:30 p.m., in Oakville, ON.
Attending: Jeff Whattam, Sheila Marks, Scott Murray, Tim Vince, Kari Robson, John Gross and Lorraine Winger were present. Liz Maffett and Jody Miall were absent.
OCF Officer Election, and Roles/Responsibilities
At the first meeting after each year’s OCF elections, the new board selects its Officers for the coming year. The OCF Officers for this year are:
Chair: John Gross
Vice Chair: Tim Vince
Treasurer: Kari Robson
Secretary: Scott Murray
Registrar: Sheila Marks
We have changed up some positions in an effort to even out the work across the board, and give some people a bit of a break! Lorraine Winger will continue to be the Volunteer Coordinator and handle the Insurance placement. Jeff Whattam will continue to be the Head Judge for the OCF. Tim continues as the OCF’s Delegate to the CEC, and will also coordinate with gyms to plan the detailed competition schedule for next season.
Look Back at the 2013/14 Season
Our OCF Youth Series included 6 Local and 2 Provincial competitions across the bouldering and Difficulty disciplines, with over 640 competitors attending the 8 comps (average of over 80 per comp!). We also had over 60 judges participating, and now have 5 trained Head Judges. Andrew McBurney also stepped up to contribute as our Risk Management Co-ordinator, helping to keep our comps as safe as possible.
Our finances are in good shape. We expect a balance of between $5,000-$6,000 to carry into next season, after settling accounts with the CEC including some late-season National Memberships bought for athletes attending Regionals.
Status of the new CEC
The CEC and the Alpine Club have been working out the details of getting the new National organization set up properly, including finances. The ACC has agreed to transfer to the CEC an amount corresponding to membership revenues less related expenses.
The board will meet again on June 8, 2014 in Burlington.
