Update for all COACHES travelling to Youth Boulder Nationals in Montreal this weekend:

 

The OCF Registrar (Davis Barton) will register all Ontario athletes during YBN Registration on Friday afternoon. She will be at Bloc Shop between 6:30 and 7:00pm (for the half hour before the Technical meeting) to distribute athlete bibs to Ontario Coaches. For any alternate arrangements, please contact Davis at info@climbontario.ca.

OCF Difficulty Local #1 for D and E is this Saturday, February 2nd!

Registration closes tomorrow, Tuesday January 29th at 11:59 pm. There are NO registrations accepted past the cut-off.

 

Important Details about Boulderz Climbing Gym:

Location: 80 The East Mall #9, Etobicoke, ON

Waivers: Everyone entering the gym MUST sign a waiver, including spectators. Minors need their waivers filled out by their parent or legal guardian. Here is the online child waiver and adult waiver.

Call for an Ontario representative to the CEC Coaching Committee

The CEC is asking each PSO for one individual to be part of the CEC coaching
committee. Serving a one year term, you will be instrumental in guiding the development of standards, clinics, and developmental pathways for climbing coaches in Canada.

We are looking for individuals who have expertise and experience in the
following areas:
• Coaching and instruction
• Coach education and mentorship
• Education program design and implementation
• Athlete development

Please submit a letter of interest with all relevant coaching experience (climbing or otherwise) to chair@climbontario.ca by 11:59pm EST, Wednesday January 30th.

 

Upcoming D & E Competition at Boulderz Etobicoke

We look forward to seeing Youth D & E athletes on February 2nd at Boulderz (Etobicoke) for the first Difficulty competition of the season! Please make sure to register by Tuesday, January 29th at 11:59 pm.
Late registrations will not be accepted.

Youth D/E Format: Modified scramble. Competitors climb four qualifier routes, in a
predetermined order, with two attempts on each route (time limit of 4 minutes per route).

Athletes can watch each other climb.  Competitors are scored points per hold. Score will take
attempts into account to help eliminate ties.
A final schedule and running orders will be posted next Wednesday after registration closes.

Difficulty Judging Clinic – Jan 26th – Boulderz, Etobicoke

**Update: Due to the possibility of hazardous driving conditions, the judging clinic has been rescheduled to the 26th**

Date: Saturday, January 19th Saturday, January 26th
Time: 10 am – 12 noon (approximately 2 hours)
Location: Boulderz Climbing Gym, 80 The East Mall, Unit 9, Etobicoke

The clinic will be facilitated by Sharon Vukojevic, one of the OCF Jury Presidents.

The clinic is for those volunteers who would like to learn to judge so you can help at our upcoming Difficulty competitions. If you have previously judged at OCF competitions and would like a “refresher” you are also invited to join the clinic.

Any competitive youth climber competing in second year B, A, Junior or Open category or, any student 14 and older is also welcome to attend the clinic. This is a great way to get your High School volunteer hours and help out the climbing community.
